Just about 9 Million mothers are living in Germany according to the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden. They are hardworking family managers, excelling each day as bankers, taxi drivers, interior designers, florists, cooks, bakers, nurses... depending on the needs of their families. And it is obvious: nothing would really work without them!
Strawberries are one of summer’s most wonderful blessings and one of the most favourite berries, though, from a botanical point of view, they belong (surprise!) to the species of nuts.
One single burning scented candle is enough to bring light into our homes and lives, to lighten bleak days and dark moods.
This spring will be colourful! After all these weeks and months of winter in predominant grey our souls are craving for colour! And how can we bring back colour into our lives? Should we redecorate our homes? That’s too costly and time-consuming! Should we fly to warm, exotic places? This is not affordable for everyone. The simple solution is not to vacation, paint or refurbish but to bring spring directly into our homes.

After the quiet days and silent nights of Christmas… here comes noisy and colourful New Year’s Eve! On December 31, corks are popping, firecrackers and fireworks exploding, people counting down and cheering. Everything is resounding with this noise that marks the beginning of a New Year and originally, would drive away evil spirits.
Setting up and adorning the Christmas tree is a highlight of the Christmas season. And especially the lights, be it little electrical bulbs or candles, create the very special atmosphere on Christmas. In particular real candles transform everything in their warm, peaceful and festive light. It is said that Duchess Dorothea Sybille of Silesia was the first to decorate a Christmas tree with candles.
The winter holiday season has started! Advent and Christmas decorations are everywhere; the shopping hustle fills the streets of our cities lit with thousand lights; new cookie recipes are tried out filling the air with the smell of cinnamon and cardamom; the first candle is lit on the Advent wreath.
Especially during the Christmas season, when many candles are lit at the same time, we should take notice of the RAL Quality Mark when buying candles. The RAL Mark guarantees that the candles burn evenly with a low soot and smoke release. Furthermore, candles with the RAL Quality Mark do not contain any harmful substances.
Halloween is celebrated on the night between October 31st and November 1st (All Saints’ Day) and is meanwhile not only in the US a fun and spooky celebration but also in Germany and all around Europe!
Some weeks before autumn officially starts on September 22, nature amazes us with the beautiful colours of the Indian Summer: dark red, chestnut brown, pumpkin-orange, moss-green, plum-blue, sunflower-yellow and all the berry colours from blackberry to elderberry. Soon the migratory birds leave our regions, the colourful flowers of the fall disappear; the sun is getting weaker and the days shorter. And eventually the golden October days give way to the grey November drizzle and fog.
At each of these stages of fall, candles bring light and warmth into our homes.
It could be so wonderful: Here’s a quite place in nature, shadowy and sunny at the same time - perfect for a picnic. All the delicious treats can be unpacked from the picnic basket: healthy salads, fresh baguettes, cheese, fruit and cold drinks. The first tealights were produced in the Netherlands and were called “Waxinelichtje”. They were used in a teapot-warmer to keep the tea hot – and this is why they received their name: “tealights”.

Manufactures of candles are only allowed to sign candles with the RAL Quality Mark if they stick to the strict standards of the European Quality Association for Candles regarding burning duration, raw material and burning behaviour. The compliance of these standards is supervised by the DEKRA Umwelt GmbH.
